Mr Leonard Wong Shing-chuen
Wong had taken up senior managerial posts in various firms. He is also a percussion director and renowned supervisor of Cantonese Operatic singing who apprenticed under maestro Dr. Choo Heng-cheong. Since the 1980s, Wong has been the lead musician for numerous troupes and a teacher of singing and instrumental accompaniment. Being the part-time tutor at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Metropolitan University (formerly named the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK)), Wong was delighted to give lectures introducing the arts of Cantonese Opera to the Cantonese Opera enthusiasms.
Wong is an examiner of Cantonese Operatic Singing Examinations, jointly organized by the London College of Music of West London University and Hong Kong Association of Cantonese Opera Scholars; He has been appointed as the evaluator of Hong Kong Arts Development Council and Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee & Cantonese Opera Development Fund. In order to sow the seed of Cantonese Opera and cultivate the art among the young generation, Wong has been the speaker to give talks and lectures at universities, he specialized in research topics related to Cantonese Opera History, operatic singing and percussion. He also published a bibliography "Dr. Choo Heng-cheong's Art and Life" and was the editor of "Directory of Hong Kong Contemporary Cantonese Opera (2011 Edition)". Wong always gives the post-filming sharing for the Cantonese Opera films at Hong Kong Film Archive.
