Dr Ho Chan Un-chan donated a generous fund to Hong Kong Metropolitan University to establish “Ina Ho Cantonese Opera Research Centre”, which is dedicated to promoting Cantonese opera teaching, learning and appreciation; while providing English translation and exchange of Cantonese opera libretti and excerpts, on top of academic research to enhance the awareness and appreciation of Cantonese opera among the local young generation and overseas audience.

Marking the establishment of “Ina Ho Cantonese Opera Research Centre” under Hong Kong Metropolitan University, we proudly present the first large-scale Cantonese Opera performance entitled Glamour of Cantonese Opera Shines through the Academia, to be held at the Grand Theatre of the Xiqu Centre in the West Kowloon Cultural District at 1:30pm on 19 August 2023 (Saturday).

These performances are grounded upon refined classical Cantonese opera titles and will incorporate experienced Cantonese opera veterans and fresh performers in a brilliant and sophisticated operatic art form.

Ticket prices: $680, $580, $480*, $280*
Tickets available from 5 July 2023 via online, mobile app, telephone booking as well as at the Xiqu Centre Ticket Office*. There are no handling fees for all the said ticketing channels.
^*Concessions apply for $480, $280 tickets
50% discount for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and wheelchair users, Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients, full-time students. Ticket holders must present proof of eligibility on admission. Concessions are available on a first come, first served basis.
